KH3 Director Speaks Out On Delay

Kingdom Hearts III and the modern Square Enix development cycle has become something of an ongoing joke with how long it’s been taking. KH3 director Tetsuya Nomura spoke about the long delay. He cited that decisions from above his head and a switch to an external game engine, Unreal Engine 4 specifically, when the game was already in development, were the main causes of the long development time. He also mentioned not receiving the staff necessary for the project, which it’s worth noting that the early development would have been around the time that Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn was being worked on.
