Bethesda started ramping up their marketing around Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus, which is due out on October 27th. The game depicts a fictional America where “the Nazi regimen has occupied the United States following their victory in World War II." A short video was uploaded to Twitter showing scenes from the game with the words “Not My America” superimposed over the footage, and shockingly, sparked a noticeable backlash against the developer.
Controversy is surrounding this game’s advertising, which features Nazi Stormtroopers marching down American streets. Bethesda insists this is not meant to be political. To be fair, it’s a Wolfenstein game and this is what Wolfenstein games are always about. This is the eleventh game in a series dating back to 1981.
